The Metaverse
The metaverse is a network with virtual environments in which people can interact with each other and digital objects while operating an avatar that can Identify as themselves. It is massive online multiplayer, wherein virtual reality; people can gather and do different activities like in real life, such as playing sports, going to the cinema, or playing a role game…
It can offer multiple possibilities like building an economy in this virtual world being able to own a piece of land, a house, vehicles, have your own business, etc.
Imagine for a moment that you have a piece of land in this virtual world and let us say that this metaverse becomes very popular among users, and a company would like to do some publicity in your land as it is situated in a popular area on the map. This company will have the chance to use your land to market their products where everyone can see it and at the same time, you can profit renting that space that belongs to you.
Metaverse is not something new, we have other metaverses like Second life which launched in 2003, Roblox in 2005, or even Fornite which started as a battle royale back in 2017, but now it has become more social and closer to a Metaverse itself. We also have some popular movies based on a Metaverse such as Ready Player one, Free Guy, Tron, Gamer….
Why Metaverse is so important?
In the years to come, the Metaverse could become a very important part of our life and even replace the Internet as we know it today. That is exactly why companies like Facebook, Nvidia, Microsoft, etc… are heavily invested in this technology in a race to lead the future of this new economy and society.
